BIO

DeZishun, composed of two brothers Frederick-Dee aka Baddest-Dee and Larry aka Zipp-Luvv, a singing, writing, producing, and performing duo who began performing in Washington, DC and relocated to East Orange/Essex County, New Jersey. Aspiring to ignite their version of music, DeZishun left Washington, DC to be closer to New York City, the Mecca of today’s music and music business. They’ve traveled a long journey and their intentions, as artists and musicians, is to invigorate, educate, and stimulate the minds, souls, and spirits of the listening audiences. DeZishun aspire to reach the masses through music and songs inspired by life experiences while referencing their spiritual growth through melodies and harmonies of biblical proportions. They both embrace the challenges this voyage entails.

Their goal is to generate positive energy through their musical/lyrical compositions and their live performances. From their pre-adolescent years in Monrovia, Liberia/West Africa through their teen years at Calvin Coolidge High School in N/W Washington, D.C., their birth city, and their early adulthood years as undergraduate students at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut; music has been their tool of expression. DeZishun operate their independent record/music production company, Dee Zee Enterprise, in East Orange/Essex County, New Jersey. Their ultimate goal is to establish and perpetuate a musical legacy that will transform the fundamentals of today’s music.

DeZishun recorded their first song/demo titled, “Larger Than Life”, at Night Flight Recording Studio in Fort Washington, MD. They wrote and arranged the song lyrics themselves. They worked with producer and recording engineer, Rick Froe, who wrote the music and helped with the production of their first track. As DeZishun matured and improved their singing and songwriting skills, they later connected with producer and recording engineer, Kevin Jackson, the founder/owner of Night Flight Recording Studio and husband of R&B Soul Star Stacy Lattisaw. Kevin Jackson and his producing partner Rick White wrote and produced the hit song “Cry No More” for II D Extreme released in 1993 Gasoline Alley/MCA Records. Kevin Jackson has worked with Gladys Knight, Gerald Levert, Ginuwine and Jill Scott, to name a few. DeZishun collaborated with Kevin Jackson on most of the songs that they recorded at Night Flight Recording Studio. They wrote all the lyrics compositions to their songs and Kevin Jackson wrote all of the music that they all collectively produced together.

After graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University, DeZishun moved from their home town Washington, DC to East Orange, NJ to pursue their singing and writing career independently. They decided to go to New York City and visit the hip hop radio station 97.1 WQHT (Hot 97), to push their demo track titled “Never Give You Up”. They met hip hop star Method Man from the Wu Tang Clan at HOT 97 and gave him a copy of their demo track. Method Man accepted it from them and brought it back to the Wu Tang Clan office in Staten Island New York. Shortly thereafter, DeZishun hooked up with John “Mook” Gibbons, the President of Wu Tang Management, at the time. John Gibbons embraced them and offered them an opportunity to be under his Protect Ya Neck/Wu Tang Enterprise record label. They decided not to sign as artists with John “Mook” Gibbons, they instead remained independent but agreed to work in a partnership with John Gibbons and his Protect Ya Neck record label. DeZishun recorded another hot demo titled “Don’t Wanna Be Lonely”, with the help and support of John “Mook” Gibbons. They pushed to obtain a distribution deal with one of the major music distributors but were unsuccessful in obtaining the distribution that they sought. After two years of working with John Gibbons, they severed the partnership and moved on because of creative and business differences.

Several years later, DeZishun met and worked with the Nigerian hip hop producer Lab Onis. Because of their dedication to being highly creative in writing and producing their own songs, Lab Onis encouraged them to learn how to make their own beats. Lab Onis taught them some useful skills in making original hip hop beats. They later fused with the late producer and recording engineer, Kasim Samad, founder/owner of Madd Bass Recording Studio in East Orange, NJ and mentor of the hip hop star Treach, from Naughty By Nature. Kasim Samad took them under his wings and worked with them personally to help improve their skills and abilities in making different genres of music and beats. DeZishun currently work with producer and recording engineer Daniel M. Laporte founder/owner of DML Recording Studio in East Orange, NJ. Daniel M. Laporte resume includes working with Rihanna, The Fugees, Neo, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Diana Ross, Raven Simone, etc… DeZishun produced and recorded the last three projects, that they released independently, at DML Recording Studio with Daniel M. Laporte at the helm, mixing it for them.

It is their long-term objective to follow the direction of Berry Gordy who, guided artists, writers and producers like Smokey Robinson, The Jackson 5, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, etc…; on his beloved record company Motown Records in Detroit, Michigan. DeZishun says that “Music is a permanent part of who we are”. In the era in which we’ve lost some of the greatest musician and artists including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, etc…; concerned people are asking “Will music return to its original prowess?” DeZishun says “YES”, and when most think that things were musically uncertain, DeZishun says “NO”.

DeZishun invite you to join them while they journey through time via their company, Dee Zee Enterprise’s website www.DeeZeeEnterprise.com, in order to gain the full experience of their purpose and cause. DeZishun trust that the listeners will allow them the opportunity to be heard.
